Brandon, Manitoba – The annual Eckhardt-Gramatté National Music Competition (E-Gré), which began in 1976, was the vision of composer, pianist and violinist S. C. Eckhardt-Gramatté. It is unique in its devotion to the performance excellence of 20th- and 21st-century music and to the creation of over 40 new commissioned works by Canadian composers.
